MacsimumNews.com's THE VIDEO SANDBOX, Ep. 37
___________________

What is it with monkeys all of a sudden? Ferguson entertains "cheeky wee monkeys," Penn Jilette has "Monkey Tuesdays" and Letterman wouldn't wish his problems "to a monkey on a rock." What am I missing here? This show is monkey-free. Would ratings increase if monkeys were to become an integral part of the show? Beethoven had a monkey and he did alright.

Swag-o-rama. We're giving away lots. Plus discounts. First, we're giving away three complete copies of Koingo Software's "Digital Data Companion" on The Video Sandbox PLUS offering Koingo Software discounts for our viewers (the losers) for a limited time only. The holidays are looming. Halloween is in a week. Thanksgiving is in a month. And Christmas, Hanukah and the return of "24" is in about two months. So we go to a shopping center, so I can show you just what you're up against in this "booming" economy.

This week, we have a "Five for" from Jayson Adams of Circus Ponies, the creators of Notebook. We have a music video from DCLugi.

And as a special treat for the kiddies, we have a story of bawdy escapades at the Disney Resort in Paris. Who knew Mickey was walking on the wild side!

We have a contest to win an iPod Shuffle, should they ever come out. Watch the video for contest rules.

And if that's not enough, beginning next week, we're going to be giving away three copies of their Koingo Software's "Digital Data Companion" on The Video Sandbox and offering a 50% discount for our viewers for a limited time only.

So let us summarize. Free entertainment. News. Music. An interview. And booty.

Video Sandbox 33: Google Me If you had $1.65m. What would YouBuy? Well, If you're Google you rip a page from the Bill Gates' business strategy playbook. Can't beat 'em - buy 'em! What will Google do with YouTube? Maybe be the gatekeeper for all advertising? Charge ... oh, maybe... networks for uploading promos for feature films and TV shows. Or running those annoying 15 second Microsoft and American Express ads before the video begins playing. Y'know somewhere Gates and Ballmer are all cuddly and cooing, "They get it! They get it!" I don't know why, I have a feeling that somehow Rumsfeld is involved and has denied everything. But that's just me. This week, the Plant Psychic returns, humans are conditioned and learn the simple steps to play the rehab card. And help me figure out a contest idea for a shuffle. Best reason to play the rehab card?

Video Sandbox 32: Pod, pod, pod I'm starting to really become scared by now. Apple is turning into Microsoft in terms of sheer hubris. They want to control usage of the word "pod;" I want to control the word "keyboard." All I ask is that each unit of any product using the word "keyboard" send me a penny per unit sold. Steve, my accountants will be getting back to you with a number in the near future. We have all had our fun with Senator Stevens' remark about the internet being "a series of tubes." But I feel that it was taken out of context. So, this week, Senator Stevens gets his due. And, believe it or not, humans are still conditionally questionable. And we'll prove it. Twice. Dennis proposes a way to lead Stevenote attendees into Chapter 11 with as little effort as possible. You don't even have to leave your chair. I wonder if they'll also have a complimentary on site judge and a cesspool of attorneys?

Video Sandbox 31: All Creatures Great and Small I have one great suggestion that could not only settle whose guilty or not guilty at Gitmo and at the same time save billions of dollars. The source - you'll be as surprised as I was when it dawned on me. There's a theme to this week's show like on Merv Griffin (ask Grandpa). We check the condition of humans, animals and plants. Video Sandbox 30: My Brain Hurts The most important fact that you will take away from this week's episode is that pandas and liquor don't mix. I have the proof, 80%. If that's all you learn this week, I will have been of service. But it doesn't stop there. Far from it. Inquiring minds want to know - why do men's cotton briefs come in zip-lock bags? It's an enigma, wrapped inside a riddle, inside this stupid resealable plastic bag! And why? Are freshness dates next? It's nice to know that some government agency is concerned with my loins. Or is it? Then Dennis confesses. He has iMac envy. Light an extra candle for Dennis tonight. And, naturally, some podsafe music for you to sample. And all of this in one, single download. Absolutely free. For you, that is. This show is costing me an arm and a leg.

Video Sandbox 29: A Stack Too Far What was I thinking? I just left the MUG meeting and we made our usual foray to the diner. I promised myself just a bagel. But like Lorelei sang her siren song, dashing hapless sailors against the rocks, those pancakes were calling out to me. Each griddle cake knew my name. It was no contest. What has this to do with Episode 29, you ask? Not a thing. But it's a lesson that hope all other MUG members will heed.

Video Sandbox 27: Little Bytes We're beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel. The computer is running better than it has in years and I tied up a lot of personal loose ends. So now we can get back to things. This week we are going to focus on Apple's September 12th Showtime in Paris. Plus we're going to get serious over the politics of journalism. Then we'll blow-up a pony. And I still need an idea from you, the viewers, as to what to do for our next contest. Like to talk about something else? Email me at chief@thevideosandbox.com

Video Sandbox 27: Back to the Future It's been a rough couple of weeks, but still, we were able to hobble together a couple of episodes with tape and chewing gum. So we're back, just in time for the end of summer. But we're patient. We're loyal. And we will be back when you return from the holiday. So, this weekend, run your iPods empty. We'll have our latest show at the ready to fill it up when you return home. This week, we have a piece from DCLugi, od-edd and the latest examples of the Human Condition. And we will have to come up with another contest to run. We're open to suggestions. And I'll root around for a prize. Send your suggestions should be sent to chief@thevideosandbox.com.

Video Sandbox 25: Boxers or Briefs? All of my life I've worn either briefs or gone commando. But for the first time in my life, I'm considering boxers. Why? I've been asking myself the same question all week (had some time to kill). I'm not sure if it's age or mental pause. But, I've already told you more than you wan to know. Plus, Mel Gibson has been taking a lot of heat from the media and rightfully so. No one should condone such remarks. But they are amplified more if you're a public figure than if you were a regular schmoe. So, Tiddles and I decided to see if we could take a little pressure off of him. Also in this weeks episode, Dennis recaps the WWDC announcements and it's the last week of our "Boy, That Sucks" contest. Your last chance to win a free copy of 'SuperDuper!,' the best backup software for your buck, IMHO. Hey, listen ... if you are gonna drop by, could you pick up some beer? And maybe something to munch on?

Video Sandbox 24: New Ride Unveiled at Disneyworld Disappointed at what actor Mel Gibson sees as the 'Hollywood liberal elite,' Mr.Gibson has convinced the top brass at Florida's most profitable pleasure resort to erect a new ride named, "Shalom, Officer: The Ride." Described as a "3-D, interactive extravaganza," the rider is transported first to the Pacific Coast Highway where he appears to sit next to Mr. Gibson while he confronts a California Highway patrolman. In this re-enactment, Mr. Gibson makes no anti-semetic references, but instead says to the officer, "Dang, but those are spiffy shoes!" Mr. Gibson's publicist, when asked whether or not this was an effort to glaze over his recent DUI incident, the publicist said, "In no way does this dismiss Mr. Gibson's behavior. By the way, would anyone like a pickle?" In this week's episode, Rhona, who is carrying Dr. Featherton's baby as the result of a brief fling, is disheartened by the news that the Washington Nationals didn't deal Alfonso Soriano to Oakland before Monday's trade deadline. There's also some other stuff in the trunk.

Video Sandbox 23: Marketing 101

Being one of the tech world's most market savvy corporations, Microsoft has announced yet another name change. First there was Longhorn and then Vista. Now, taking advantage of recent news events, Microsoft has renamed it's upcoming OS release, "World War III."

"Microsoft has always been on the cutting edge of events and trends," said spokesperson Wilma Diskboot. Concurrently, Microsoft announced that the release date of "World War III" would most likely be sometime during the third quarter of Armageddon.

As for this week's full-color episode (there'll be stereo, as well), we have a self-interview with Paul Kafasis, CEO/Lackey of Rogue Amoeba Software, Dennis Sellers jumping through a hogshead of real fire, and Steve Balmer dancing like there's no tomorrow.

Let's hope there isn't.

Video Sandbox 22: Not Your Father's Episode 22

Time's a wastin', so why not waste a little more.

This week, The "Boy, That Sucks" contest continues. Send in a video or an email to chief@thevideosandbox.com and tell all the boys and girls what really pries up your fingernails. The person with the best entry wins a copy of SuperDuper! so that'll be one less thing that sucks.

Dennis has triumphantly returned from The Big Easy. Hopefully, they had a productive time "muckin' in." But he's back with another Op-Edd. Or so we hope?

This week I'll present incontrovertible evidence that Beethoven was from New Jersey and composed the major body of his work in front of telly. And Laura Bush may drop by for a chat!

Then there's sport.

No really! The sucking sound is gawd awful! This week we're going to try a new segment - "Boy, That Sucks." I'm going to list a number of things that I think suck. And these will be just for starters. But every one of you know things that suck. So, watch the first installment of the segment and then send in your thoughts on things that suck. After a month, we'll narrow it down to the top three, then pick the top one. And that person will win a copy of SuperDuper!, because, after-all, nothing sucks more than losing all your data and having no backup! Right? Just send your list to chief@thevideosandbox.com. And two weeks ago, I ran a video from DCLugi that was a parody of U2 videos and Bono called "Someone Tell Sam Jackson He's My Bro." Well, I received a number of responses to the video and we'll look at some of them. Dennis, unfortunately, cannot be here this week but hopefully we'll find a stand-in. He's on a working vacation helping to clean-up New Orleans. Can you believe it - it's been almost a year since Katrina? But never fear. Everything is back to normal on Monday. If you call this normal.

Video Sandbox 20: That's Entertainment! Another week has slid right by but nobody seems to have gotten into any trouble. Kenneth Lay died, but in my opinion, he got off easy. But I'll bet you Rushbo is cooking something up. We review the Human Condition for the week. And nothing has changed there. SS, DD. Although one person was very original in exposing the Human Condition. We will celebrate The Beatles, whose music is now around forty years old (ask your grandfather). It's a special tribute to the boys who are over my shoulder each and every episode. And naturally, some new material for you to check out from the Podsafe Music Network. So join us. A new superbug is linked to tattooing. This is definitely a week where the Human Condition is in full flower. And we're going to celebrate with several Human Condition stories. And the stories that I just listed are in the mainstream media. We don't go anywhere near there. Nowhere near there. Dennis will be here with another Op-Edd. Maybe I'll tell you about Tiddles. Or maybe I'll brush my teeth while singing some tune. Now that's entertainment! And speaking of entertainment, I save the best for last. All I'll say is that we have an extremely special guest visiting us this week. I can say no more.

This week in the Video Sandbox, we have The Human Condition, Op-Edd, ShoutThing, music, cartwheels, alligator wrestling, and we're going to blow-up a pony! A cute one, too!. With a braided mane and pretty ribbons tied 'round it's tail. And then there's Sport. Everybody has World Cup fever and we're going to refuse to talk about it. That's right. THIS WEEK on Episode 15: Changes in the Wind

I'm growing bored so there are going to be some changes made around here. Will try out some segments and see how they do. We will have The Human Condition, music and Dennis' Op-Edd. There's some new segments coming down the pike, too. When they arrive, we'll see how they do, eh?

I also need your help. As of this week, I signed on with a new family practitioner. Result: I have to cold turkey three staples of my lifestyle - soda, cigarettes (which i took up again after a twenty year hiatus) and pizza. All simultaneously! So I'm asking you to help me out! Keep an eye on me. Let me know if I'm getting more irritable than normal!

And it may not happen, but Dick Cheney said that he would try and give 'Truth or Tale' a shot.

"The Full Nine Yards" Our hero has a full line-up and he couldn't be happier. (Well, yes, he could, really!) There's an interview with Chuck Joiner of MacNotables and The MUG Center, a Canadian ShoutThing, the first round of 'Truth or Tale,' help from 'The Inside Wire,' Mr. Seller's Op-Ed piece, and two great cuts from the Podsafe Music Network. The episode's a little long, but you had nothing specific to do, anyway.
